Music Mondays // ‘Andrei’ from ‘War & Peace’

Hello awesome peeples! Unfortunately, I’ve been incredibly busy this past week, so I haven’t had time to put together my usual cover with me singing this week… sorry! Instead I wanted to share with you a beautiful and sad piano piece that I learned recently. I don’t know about you, but I adore sad music!! And this piece is so incredibly simple, yet it is able to convey, with just a few notes, so much emotion. I love it. So without further ado…

I’d love to know if you like it or not! Have any of you pianists played this piece before?🎹

Love you all! You’re awesome!

10 Creative ideas to keep you happy while you’re stuck at home 🌼// ‘Caption This’ Contest!

Hi everyone! I’m back and this time with 10 creative ideas that you can test out while you are stuck at home. 😊

  • Write a haiku.
  • Write down ten things you’re thankful for on sticky notes, and stick them on the wall next to your bed.
  • Write a short fantasy story and read it to your younger siblings (if you have them🙂)
  • Memorize a short psalm.
  • Sew a pretty change purse by hand. Maybe even embroider your name on it!
  • Send a letter to an old friend. Don’t forget to decorate the envelope!
  • Take a picture of a bird. 🐦
  • Polish your church shoes. (Believe me–this is SO satisfying!)
  • Start learning a new language. (It’s more fun than you think!)
  • Give your mom a hug.♥️

What keeps you afloat while you’re stuck at home?

Now it’s time for something a little different–you could make this number eleven on the list, if you like.🙂 I’m going to put up some of my photography below, and you get to caption it! Please put your name, the photo number and your caption in the comments below, and the winner of each photo will get their name and blog name listed with their winning caption in a post of winners! Pretty Watercolour Paintings // A painted envelope from a friend

Hello! I’m back for a quick post to show you the creative efforts of–no, not me–my sister and my best friend, who are two lovely artists. These first photos are by my sister Ruth, and they are pen and watercolour on watercolour paper.

It’s not perfect (no one will tell you that more than Ruth, haha!), but don’t you just love it’s pretty simplicity? It captures the imagination.

She likes this one a little better, but I actually like the first one best. But I think this one technically has less mistakes. 🙂

And now–this the envelope of a lovely letter I received today, from my best friend. Isn’t it so pretty?? (The colour blocks are to keep our addresses private.)

Speaking of painted envelopes and letter writing, I just recently read this wonderful blog post with lots of inspirational ideas that I intend to implement with my next letter.

Well, that’s all for today! Hopefully I’ll have more soon… 🙂

What are your favourite things to do with your letters? Do you prefer watercolours, acrylics, or oil paints?

Yours truly,

Magaidh

The Raincoat

 The Raincoat

Liquid memories fall all around me,
that calming sound which soothes the soul;
the skies’ tears,
they wash away the dirt of earth
and mind,
and when I see them I soon find
I’m reminded of a tender picture—
taken not long ago;
not desecrated by paper common
or bright ink,
but in my mind
whilst I breathe
and think.
This memory is written in the rain.
It’s paths, indeed, are marred by pain,
but like the broken fragments
of the Oriental’s vase,
the pain serves not the memory to efface,
but to make it more lovely yet,
in this case.
There is a memory
(this one of which I speak)
which I often struggle to recall—
it is the face of a man…
and oft I cannot find what I seek.
But then I close my eyes and think
of a sandy raincoat, hanging long,
a voice upraised in holy song,
and peace, as pure as the day is long—
then I see his face.
I see it as he smiled,
a memory by fears undefiled;
I see him as I said farewell—
his eyes, his eyes…
and the raincoat bay.
I see him that way
to this day.

Tolkien 2019

Yes, it’s true. I have stooped so low as to tell you that I am really looking forward to a movie. BUT I AM! Tolkien is coming out today, and I can’t wait to see it! (Tolkien is my favourite author, btw…) No, I’m not going to see it today 😦 …but I’m will be sure to write it a highly prejudiced review when I do see it! And hey–if you see it before me, let me know how it was! Only…don’t spoil it. 😀

Be sure to check out the trailer below! I’ve already watched it a gazillion times…

Love,

Elizabeth

Check out my poems based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works! And in honour of the movie, for a limited time, you can download the pdf below. 😀

The Hope to Come

What better way to start the new year than with a collection of Bible verses about hope? We all need a little encouragement sometimes.💜 Do you have a favourite? Post in the comments and I’ll add it to the list! Hope you all have a wonderful 2019!

In Christ Alone,

Elizabeth

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Deuteronomy 31:6

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope [is] in thee.

Psalm 39:7

For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Proverbs 23:18

Family 029 (1 of 1)

He is the son of David,

the heir of Jesse’s son,

He is our mighty Savior,

He has now for us come.

Yet He will not come in the clouds,

nor with Heaven’s trumpets blasting,

but to a lowly stable bed,

a child, to raise the living and the dead.
