Tolkien 2019

Yes, it’s true. I have stooped so low as to tell you that I am really looking forward to a movie. BUT I AM! Tolkien is coming out today, and I can’t wait to see it! (Tolkien is my favourite author, btw…) No, I’m not going to see it today 😦 …but I’m will be sure to write it a highly prejudiced review when I do see it! And hey–if you see it before me, let me know how it was! Only…don’t spoil it. 😀

Be sure to check out the trailer below! I’ve already watched it a gazillion times…

Check out my poems based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works! And in honour of the movie, for a limited time, you can download the pdf below. 😀

The Hope to Come

What better way to start the new year than with a collection of Bible verses about hope? We all need a little encouragement sometimes.💜 Do you have a favourite? Post in the comments and I’ll add it to the list! Hope you all have a wonderful 2019!

In Christ Alone,

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Deuteronomy 31:6

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope [is] in thee.

Psalm 39:7

For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Proverbs 23:18

Changes Coming in 2019

Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday! I got a sewing machine (yay!) What was your favourite present that you received or gave?

Well, the new year is approaching startlingly fast! With it are coming some awesome changes on The Nightingale! Firstly, I finally own my own domain, so pretty soon here my URL will be Looks nice doesn’t it? It’s so nice to finally have that after what…five years? My, but this blog has been through a lot of changes! Do any of you remember when it was still “Blue Eyed Magi”? And then there was that very brief period where it was “Maeflower”.

So the other change that you’ll see soon is that I will probably be changing my theme again. Okay–I know that isn’t really anything new. I probably change my theme on average every two months… But I’m going to be using one of the paid WordPress plans now, so I think I’ll be able to make the blog even more beautiful than before. I know what you’re thinking; “How could it possibly be any more beautiful than it is now??!!!” Well it can.

Just kidding.

One more thing you’ll see different: my name. Elizabeth Baillie is actually a pen name! In 2019 I’ll be using my real name, just in it’s Gaelic form. So that should be interesting…for you, anyway.

Well, I hope you’re as excited as I am! Be sure and leave a comment if you have any ideas for what The Nightingale should include in the great 2019!

God bless you all!

Elizabeth Baillie

Tremble softly, perhaps nothing will fall.
Only the inside of you will break-
but do not stir!  the whirlwind will return.
Tied down by chords invisible,
bruised by hurt invincible,
in my glass palace I lay.
Everything I touch is breakable,
my shaking has shattered my heart.
Slippery as ice and not half as nice,
the floors of my life trip me.
If I fall-it breaks.
Breakable, breakable.  Everything
is breakable.
And I walk fragile;
