10 Creative ideas to keep you happy while you’re stuck at home 🌼// ‘Caption This’ Contest!

Hi everyone! I’m back and this time with 10 creative ideas that you can test out while you are stuck at home. 😊

  • Write a haiku.
  • Write down ten things you’re thankful for on sticky notes, and stick them on the wall next to your bed.
  • Write a short fantasy story and read it to your younger siblings (if you have themπŸ™‚)
  • Memorize a short psalm.
  • Sew a pretty change purse by hand. Maybe even embroider your name on it!
  • Send a letter to an old friend. Don’t forget to decorate the envelope!
  • Take a picture of a bird. 🐦
  • Polish your church shoes. (Believe me–this is SO satisfying!)
  • Start learning a new language. (It’s more fun than you think!)
  • Give your mom a hug.β™₯️

What keeps you afloat while you’re stuck at home?

Now it’s time for something a little different–you could make this number eleven on the list, if you like.πŸ™‚ I’m going to put up some of my photography below, and you get to caption it! Please put your name, the photo number and your caption in the comments below, and the winner of each photo will get their name and blog name listed with their winning caption in a post of winners! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Changes Coming in 2019

Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday! I got a sewing machine (yay!) What was your favourite present that you received or gave?

Well, the new year is approaching startlingly fast! With it are coming some awesome changes on The Nightingale! Firstly, I finally own my own domain, so pretty soon here my URL will be Looks nice doesn’t it? It’s so nice to finally have that after what…five years? My, but this blog has been through a lot of changes! Do any of you remember when it was still “Blue Eyed Magi”? And then there was that very brief period where it was “Maeflower”.

So the other change that you’ll see soon is that I will probably be changing my theme again. Okay–I know that isn’t really anything new. I probably change my theme on average every two months… But I’m going to be using one of the paid WordPress plans now, so I think I’ll be able to make the blog even more beautiful than before. I know what you’re thinking; “How could it possibly be any more beautiful than it is now??!!!” Well it can.

Just kidding.

One more thing you’ll see different: my name. Elizabeth Baillie is actually a pen name! In 2019 I’ll be using my real name, just in it’s Gaelic form. So that should be interesting…for you, anyway.

Well, I hope you’re as excited as I am! Be sure and leave a comment if you have any ideas for what The Nightingale should include in the great 2019!

God bless you all!

Elizabeth Baillie

Tremble softly, perhaps nothing will fall.
Only the inside of you will break-
but do not stir!Β  the whirlwind will return.
Tied down by chords invisible,
bruised by hurt invincible,
in my glass palace I lay.
Everything I touch is breakable,
my shaking has shattered my heart.
Slippery as ice and not half as nice,
the floors of my life trip me.
If I fall-it breaks.
Breakable, breakable.Β  Everything
is breakable.
And I walk fragile;

The Lonesome Three

Green Light

On the fair open plain,

where the flowers bloom time and again,

there is a tall tree amidst the field,

and under it sit the Lonesome Three.

Across the ragged sea of glacier ice,

bathed in a bitter cold not at all nice,

there is a deserted ship wreck,

though not quite deserted,

for there sit the Lonesome Three.

In the forest thick of trees;

air filled with the buzzing of bees,

up on a tall thick branch,

there sit the Lonesome Three.

Atop the beautiful mansion-house,

where everyone tip-toes like a mouse,

there is a tower at which I gaze,

can it be?Β  There I see

the Lonesome Three.

Do you have any ideas about what the Lonesome Three are?

I still don’t know!

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Sweet Smile

Little Maiden, eyes so bright,

what are you dreaming of,

on your walk tonight?

You have a mysterious light in your eyes,

some cherished thought, hidden and disguised.

What do you think her answer will be?

Write the last line to the poem in the comments!

Also (just for fun), what do you think the girl’s name is?

Finish the Poem!
