I FINALLY GOT IT UPLOADED! Like I mentioned in today’s first music Monday post, I’ve been trying upload this video to my blog all day, but I was continually prevented by my obnoxiously slow internet. But here at last, is my ‘O mio babbino caro’ cover! This is the first video cover I’ve ever done on my blog, so I can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Do bear in mind though– I stupidly did not warm up before making this video, and also its not the best audio. (#musicianexcuses 😜).
So without further ado– here ’tis!!
Did you enjoy it? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below!
Good morning (or whatever it is where you live…) everyone!!
This week I have another favourite of mine for you all– the recording is not me, it is from the original soundtrack. 🙂 The INCREDIBLE singers are Sierra Boggess and Hadley Fraser. Hopefully next week I can get back to doing my covers– I’ve been really busy these past few weeks so I haven’t had time!
So I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Broadway might not really be your thing… but the song is a great listen. 🙂
What do you think? Have you heard this before? Do you like Broadway?
I bet you thought I wasn’t going to stick to my resolution, didn’t you? Nope…not this time! I disappeared for a week because I had to go down to Florida because my grandpa had what they thought was a stroke…then it turned out to be seizures…then it turned out the be the seizure meds they were giving him…anyway, it was an awful week and I had ZERO extra time. I repeat, ZERO! It was nuts. But as awful as the week was, it was beautiful too. Thankfully, when we were leaving our house for the seven-hour drive down to Florida, I grabbed my violin last minute. I’ve never been more thankful that I’d brought that thing along in my life. When we got to the hospital in Florida, he was in ICU, and after a little while, I asked the lady at the front desk if I could bring my violin in and play for him. She talked to a couple nurses, and then I got the ok! I went in and played for him, and it calmed him down like nothing else had–and he even starting speaking intelligibly, which was a HUGE improvement. I got a little crowd outside the door each time I played too, which was thrilling–definitely a new experience for me! 🙂 I played and sang that day for two solid hours. After that, he was moved to a regular room, and I continued to play for him over the next week. It was a really hard week, but I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed anything in my life more than I enjoyed playing and singing for him. And I kept having people stop at the door to listen, and I even got a request from an old man for me to come play for his wife! It was so, so beautiful, and I’m thankful for every moment.
My grandpa is doing better now, and he went to rehab today, praise God! He’s still a long way from being totally better, but we have hopes that he will get there.
So, that’s what I’ve been up to! How have you been this past week? Tell me in the comments! I’d love to get to know all of you awesome readers. 🙂
D’you like it? WordPress added some new design features and quite frankly I’m having a blast with them. I’m serious when I ask you if you like it, by the way! Be sure to let me know in comments.
Well, it’s not quite New Year’s yet, but I already have a resolution–post on my blog more often and make my posts more interesting. Don’t know if it’ll stick…but I’ll try. And I’m also going to gear my blog more toward my passion–music. If you haven’t read about what I’m up to now with my music training you can read all about it here.
Well, this post is going to be pretty lame and I’m going to end it here–but stay tuned! I’m going to try and be a “good” blogger now. (lol) 😀
Yes, I freely admit it–I break all the rules of good blogging shamefully. You have witnessed all of my resolutions for reform…and consequent failures. Yet many of you still continue to read my blog and (sometimes) like my stuff and it’s amazing!! Thank you all for not ditching me. Because I thoroughly deserve to be ditched.
So–what have a been up to? That’s a big question. The short answer: A lot. The long answer: I’m in training to be an opera singer!! I know, it’s amazing! It’s harder than I thought, I will admit that. Things tend to come too easily for me, so now that there is something that doesn’t, it’s kind of difficult for me to adjust to. I’m also singing with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Chorus, which is likewise more difficult than I anticipated. As (I think) you know, I was never taught to read music, and have always done everything by ear, so learning to read music at my aged, ancient, decrepit, and otherwise old age of nineteen, learning to read music is not easy. I’m the only one in the entire chorus that doesn’t read music (yep, I know–ouch!), but my voice teacher is taking great pains to teach me, and I am trying. One of my rather large issues, is that I don’t really have any rhythm… So I am having to develop an internal clock that I haven’t had my whole life.
The first concert that I have is Handel’s Messiah which I am SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT!!! Seriously–I love the Messiah! (hehe…want tickets?…hehe…click here….) 😀 I sing first soprano–and we first sopranos have all the fun. 😉
Well, I think that’s all…except that I am really looking forward to Reformation Day this Thursday–I am going to be Lady Jane Grey. Should I post a picture of me in my costume on my blog? What do you think?
It’s great to finally write a post again! Maybe I’ll do it again sometime soon…*disapears for another three months*
