I’ve been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award // My answers to award questions // Announcing my nominees!

Hi everyone!

Can you believe it? I just got nominated for a blogger award for the third time in my blog history! (wowsers!) It’s called the ‘Mystery Blogger Award’, and here are the rules:

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog. (Thanks Zainab!)
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well. (Created by Okoto Enigmas.)
  • Answer the 5 questions you were asked.
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  • You have to nominate 10-20 people.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blogs.
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question.
  • Share a link to your best post(s).

Okay. So first I’ll answer Zainab’s questions:

Who do you aspire to be like?

The Proverbs 31 woman.

What productive things have you been doing in quarantine?

Writing letters, learning more music, and working on a big surprise (don’t worry– it’ll be revealed soon!)

How did you get into blogging?

I said to my mom five years ago– “Hey can I start a blog?” No joke! lol.

What’s your favourite book?

The hardest question ever! So here’s my faves: Jane Eyre, The Lord of the Rings, Our Mutual Friend, The Phantom of the Opera.

What’s one goal you would like to have for your blog?

I want to have a lot of people reading it and enjoying it, and I’d like to be able to maybe sell some stuff on it.

Okie dokie! Now I have to put 3 things about myself. Hmmm….

  1. I speak some Scottish Gaelic.
  2. I sing in the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Chorus.
  3. I’m gonna be twenty in five days!!!

Now I have to announce my nominees.

(Note: I’m technically breaking the rules here… I’m supposed to have 10-20 nominees, but I just don’t have that many people to nominate, sorry!)

What is your favourite Psalm?

{guest post} 5 Tips for Photography // by Blogger + Photographer Hadassah S.

Hello! My name is Hadassah, and I am very honored to be writing here on Magaidh’s blog! I am extremely blessed to know Magaidh (just over our blogs, but it’s been fun!), and was more than willing to do this post on her blog! Some background on me is that I’m a Christian, young teenaged girl with a big family, I love photography, writing- and more writing-, and I adore nature… okay, that wasn’t the simplest bio about me, 😉  but here we go…! As some of you may or may not know, I write over at Photography Phun  on my own personal blog (just a small corner of the internet), and I also am the founder of the blog, Joyfully You, which is run by a bunch Christian girls who are incredible friends of mine.

Anyways, I got into the photography business almost four years ago, in late summer of 2016. My dad is a photographer and so when I got interested in the sport, he let me “borrow” his camera, a Canon Rebel T2i. (No longer made by Canon.)

My first picture looked simple. Some flowers, in front of some woods. Not much too it. But I was hooked. 🙂 I spent the whole rest of that Sunday afternoon snapping away. Birds, my sister, anything I could get my little hands on for a subject. That camera- I still use it to this day- is my best friend. The lenses that my dad already had were a simple small zoom lens, and a long telephoto lens. I liked both, but I needed something better. Enter… the 50mm lens. I found that kit on Amazon, (though it was a wee bit cheaper at the time) and was hooked- my first few photos with that lens were amazzzzzzzing. 50mm lenses are like the beginning photographer’s best friends. Depending on what you like. If you like fixed lenses, 50mm is pretty much the greatest. (I may be a little biased though…) If you like some zooming out and in (which is really great for beginners as well) you should totally get a simple camera body and a simple zoom lens. Not much too it. 🙂

Okay, I was totally about to write, “Over the years, I’ve learned…”  but actually… it hasn’t been too long. And that makes me sound ancient… I just laughed out loud. XD But nearly four years! How about crazy?? But really. I’ve learned A LOT. That’s why I want to share 5 great tips with you guys on photography.

My five main tips are… (though they might change from time to time, haha) :

  1. Always make sure your subject is in focus: some cameras have auto focus, some have manual. Start with auto first- that’s the red dot when you’re looking into the viewer- and then later move to manual- the ring around the end of your lens.
  2. Shoot at different points of the day: play with the light & shadows inside and outside! I loveee evening golden hour- avoid noon because the sun is at its harshest.
  3. Try different angles: you won’t get any depth or fun photos if you’re not shooting from above, down below, or any different angles! Have fun playing around!
  4. Edit your photos: Uh. Yeah. Almost none of my photos are perfect without just a slight edit- even one flick of brightness! Have fun with simple editing, then move on to more complex stuff.
  5. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE: You’ll never like your photos if you don’t practice! Don’t worry about your bad ones- you can delete them later. 🙂
  6. BONUS TIP: HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!  (Because if you aren’t having fun, you’re not going to like your photos!)

Thank you so so so so much Magaidh for letting me guest post! It’s been fun getting to know you!

Comment below if you have any questions for me!

The Best Dream

I want to fall asleep again,

so that I can see your face,

it is the only way to be with you,

when we’re both so far, far away.

I cannot believe that your memory

is the stuff of dreams now, dreams!

When I see you for real again,

I will be in a dream; the best dream.

Stream of Crimson Red

Deep, deep, drowning in the mist of your mind,

You search urgently for what you cannot find,

Layers of soot, fog, to brain’s root,

You know you will not find it here,

You are only running away from what you fear,

Darkness is coming, it is drawing near.

Seek for the Hero, seek for the Helper,

Seek for the One who speaks in the language of light,

The One who cradles all life, and gives it breath,

Only He, only He, the great strong tree,

Only He, can your burden bear,

Do you dare?  Only dare!

Sin, it chases, it wastes, it burns,

Your mind it to darkness turns.

There is light in Him, confess your sin.

Washed clean, in the stream of crimson red,

No longer do you lie in death’s bed,

But a possessor of eternal life, given by He

Who banishes all strife.
